Sagittarius
-Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the zodiac, following Scorpio and preceding Capricorn. It governs the time between November 22 and December 21.
-Sagittarius is a fire sign and is ruled by the planet Jupiter.
-The symbol for Sagittarius is a centaur, often represented with an arrow. This centaur is based off of Chiron from Greek mythology. Chiron was a teacher of medicine, prophecy, hunting, and music. He was sired by the titan Cronus and the nymph Philyra, who, disgusted by her son, abandoned him. He was later taken in by the god Apollo, who taught him medicine, music, and prophecy. Apollo’s sister Artemis taught him hunting and archery. Chiron later used his talents to heal and teach the hero Achilles, who was a major player in the Trojan War. Chiron was immortal due to his titan blood, however, Heracles struck a deal with Zeus to sacrifice Chiron’s immortality to free Prometheus from the rock. Heracles hit Chiron with a poisoned arrow. Chiron willingly gave up his life, so as a reward, Zeus placed him among the stars to be the constellation Sagittarius.
