Snake plants are common houseplants that are known for their ability to remove pollutants from the air. They are known to remove Carbon Dioxide, benzene, and formaldehyde from the air, while releasing oxygen and moisture. People who suffer from asthma and allergies may benefit from having a Snake Plant in their home.  As succulents, they aren't fussy and grow in just about any condition - light, shade, drafts, dry air.

The Snake Plant genus contains around 70 species and can range from as small as 6 inches to several feet tall. Dracaena trifasciata is one of the most popular varieties, with dark green leaves and vertical white stripes.

Snake Plants are not considered toxic to cats, however, if they ingest it, they may have some gastro-intestinal discomfort. They are said to be mildly to moderately toxic to dogs when ingested. Always consult your veterinarian before bringing plants into a home with pets.
